Meaning and History
What is Guns N Roses?
Guns N Roses is a Los Angeles-based musical group that emerged in 1986. She performs music in the styles of heavy metal and hard rock. Her debut album Appetite for Destruction reached number one on the Billboard 200 a year after its release.
The musical collective has several individual labels that were at the peak of fame at different times. These include Uzi Suicide, Geffen, Black Frog, and UMG. The heyday of the group came in 1985-1993 until Slash and McKagan left. In 2016, they decided to return, starting a new era in the history of the group.
Throughout its existence, Guns N 'Roses used several logos. Each of them is associated with two central images – roses and revolvers, which symbolized the name of the team. Stylized weapons appeared on the first version of the logo and remained on all subsequent versions.
On the debut logo, the name of the team is written on a yellow background that surrounds the central elements. Moreover, all words are located separately. This is a direct reference to the fact that the group was created based on two compositions: L.A. Guns and Hollywood Roses. As a result, touching symbols appeared in the style of a classic American western, where gangster cruelty, expressed in the form of colts, and romance, personified by delicate roses, predominate.
Such a contrasting comparison not only reflects the name of the group of "robbers." It emphasizes her peak emotions, sometimes incomparable with each other, but very characteristic of the genre in which Guns N 'Roses plays.
Font and Color of the Emblem
At the beginning of their career, the combined team used the logo with revolvers. Moreover, the trunks are directed in opposite directions, and the arms are crossed in the center of the circle. Around them are entwined with a stem of a weaving rose. Two scarlet flowers are placed symmetrically, and a drop of blood flows from each of them. The leaves are also mirrored, which creates a feeling of precise thoughtfulness of everything that relates to the group. The author of this version is Steven, one of the members of the musical collective.
On the other emblem are presented not only two formidable revolvers with cute roses, but also a human skull. This is the most ambitious and most popular option, which was transferred as a print on clothes, becoming a trend sign. A grinning skull is in the middle, behind it are two intersecting trunks, already classically turned to each other. Behind the weapon are roses, from whose petals blood flows. A bowler hat with a ribbon and the name of the group is put on the skull. All elements are surrounded by barbed metal wire.
According to some assumptions, this logo was sketched by the hands of Slash, one of the representatives of hard rockers. However, according to Axl Rose, the frontman and vocalist of the team, the author of the hit logo is tattoo artist Bill White.
The color palette of all options for the emblem is extremely saturated – almost peak, transmitting the maximum emotional intensity. It is dominated by red (closer to scarlet), black, dark green, brown, white and ash gray of several shades.
